Homeschool Programs

New this year: Classes for 11-14 year olds offered in January, February and March!

Homeschool Tuesdays

The Greenville Zoo’s Education Department offers home school programs on a select Tuesday of each month for 5-7, 8-10, and 11-14 year olds. Classes include animals in the classroom, trips into the zoo, keeper talks and much more.
Please note: Programs for 5-7 and 8-10 year olds begin at 9:30 a.m.; programs for 11-14 year olds begin at 12:30 p.m. All are 90 minutes in length. Please note: In January, age groups will be adjusted to 5-7 years olds, 8-10 year olds and 11-14 year olds.

January

Animal Behavior 101 (9:30 am to 11 a.m.)
Why do crickets chirp? How do lions hunt as a group? Where do ravens learn to use tools? Spend the day exploring animal behavior- the how and why animals do what they do- and conduct your own behavior experiment!

Alien Invaders (12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.)
Eek! Aliens have landed in South Carolina. You have seen them and may not even know they were aliens. Let’s get together and find out how to pick aliens out of a crowd, learn how to identify imposters and how to help exterminate these alien invaders before they take over!

Herps (9:30 am to 11 a.m.)
Is that a reptile or an amphibian? Learning about the world of cold-blooded reptiles and amphibians will help us to "keep our cool" when we find them in our yards!

Careers with Animals (12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.)
Exploring occupations involving wildlife and exotics. Join us as we examine various types of careers with animals.

Earth Day is Every Day (9:30 am to 11 a.m.)
Join us as we celebrate Earth Day. We’ll talk about small changes we can make at home that can have a big impact on the Earth.
