The Year of The Frog

Celebrating Year of the Frog at the Greenville Zoo: A Young Visitor Tries on A Frog Mask

The Greenville Zoo and The Association of Zoo and Aquariums are celebrating 2008 as the Year of the Frog. Amphibians such as frogs, toads and salamanders are becoming extinct. There is a major conservation effort to address this amphibian crisis. You and your family can contribute in this global conservation effort.
  • Look, listen and learn: education yourself and your family about amphibians.
  • Visit an Association of Zoos and Aquariums accredited institution near you and experience your very own amphibian adventure!
  • Create amphibian friendly environments by providing clean water, hiding places, and insects to eat.
  • Don’t pollute.
  • Be a responsible pet owner.
  • Conserve water at home, school and work.
  • Reduce the use of fossil fuels, such as oil, coal and natural gas.
  • Be an amphibian champion. Donate to wildlife conservation programs and be aware of legislation affecting wildlife and their habitat.
