What's New This Summer?

The theme this summer is the “zoo-mazing” race. Campers will begin their journey as soon as they arrive and get their passports stamped. We will be using the same registration process as last year. We are once again offering Kinder Camp.

Can my child come all summer long?

The theme and programming remain the same all summer. Should a child wish to attend again, please be aware that they will be experiencing the same program.

When Can I Register?

Registration is only by mail or fax. Sorry, no phone-in registrations. Spaces are limited and filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. Registrations will be processed according to their postmark. Download a Zoo Camp Brochure, which includes a registration form.
Forms are not complete if they are not signed for each individual participant. Mail completed, signed, registration form and payment to:
Zoo Camp

Greenville, SC 29601

Fax : 467-4314 (When using credit card)

How will I know if my child gets in to a camp?

Once the full registration (with signed form and full payment) is processed, you will receive a confirmation letter.

Will I be able to stay with my child?

Parents are required to stay with children that are registered for the Kinder Camp (3 yr. olds) only. If your child is registered for another camp and cannot remain in camp without you, please wait another year.

What if I want my child in the same camp as a friend?

If you would like your child placed in the same session as another, mail all completed forms together in the SAME envelope. This is due to overwhelming response and processing of registrations. Please note: Member registrations that are mailed with non-member registrations will both be processed after the non-members date.

What if the camp I want is full?

A waiting list will be established for each camp. However, there is no guarantee that a space will become available.

How should my child dress?

Children should dress comfortably, with closed-toe shoes. Campers will go out into the Zoo quite often. We take plenty of water and cool-down breaks. Campers will receive a T-Shirt which is included in the camp fee. (We will not be able to exchange any sizes. T-Shirts are pre-shrunk). A class photo will be taken on the second day of camp and we request that all campers wear their T-Shirts on that day. Also, remember that if it rains, bring rain coats only. Please, no umbrellas or flip flops.

Can I enroll my child in an older age group?

Sorry, but we adhere to all age requirements. The camps are age appropriate.

Will there be a snack break?

Yes. Please pack a snack, even if your child is not accustomed to one. We have found that they will want something when everyone else is snacking. Please keep in mind that campers will not be able to purchase anything from the snack bar.

What if my child has allergies?

Please be sure you make us aware of any allergies your child may have. If they have a severe allergy and carry an epi pen, they must report to camp with an ALLERGY ACTION PLAN from their doctor on the first day of camp - NO EXCEPTIONS! The instructor will carry the instructions and epipen with them at all times.

How are campers supervised?

Campers are supervised at all times. There are volunteers and an instructor for every classroom.

What are the qualifications of your teachers and assistants?

All camp teachers are Zoo staff educators or college interns. Camp assistants are teen volunteers that have passed our volunteer training course.

Will my child get to touch animals or go behind-the-scenes?

The staff uses a variety of animals for Zoo Camp. Campers will have an opportunity to touch many of them. Behind-the-scene tours are limited to certain areas for the safety of the children and the animals.

What if I need to reschedule or cancel?

Participants must provide written notice to the Education Department at least two weeks prior to the program date in order to qualify for a 60% refund. If you wish to cancel and reschedule for a different session, provide written notification at least two weeks prior to the scheduled camp in order to apply your 60% refund toward the cost of the other camp (if there is space available). No refunds will be given for cancellations/reschedules less than two weeks prior to a camp date.

What do I need to know about dropping off and picking up my child for camp?

Pick up will not take place at the front gate. Please refer to the PICK UP/DROP OFF MAP that you will receive with your confirmation letter. Please remember this is done for the safety of the children.
